News anchor Thembekile Mrototo is bidding farewell to the Newzroom Africa.

The broadcaster announced on his social media that his final news bulletin will be on January 31.

“LEAVING…Today is my last day @Newzroom405. I have resigned from the channel and my last show will be at 6pm tonight,” he said in a social media post.

“Thank you to all the colleagues who’ve contributed to the many wonderful broadcasts since 2021. THANK YOU for watching and being so generous with your feedback.”

Meanwhile, responding to one of his followers on X (previously known as Twitter) he said that he will be back on television screens before the national elections.

His fans and industry mates flooded the the comments section to wish him well on his future endeavours.

@AthiMtongana wrote: “ The future is bright! Your work has always been brilliant! 🫶🏾.”

“ I hope we'll still see you on our screens, you have such a soothing demeanour ❤️,” commented @kaysexwale 

Thembekile replied to the comment and said: “ Ke ea leboha❤️ I’ll be back before elections.”

Another X user @LudidiVelani said: “ Ahh Thembekile. Thank you and all the best for future.”

Thembekile kicked off his television career as news anchor on eNCA hosting a weekday show News Grid. He left eNCA in 2021 and joined Newzroom Afrika.

Currently, he is also working as a news reader on 947.
