Ziyakhala: Two former SASSA officials arrested for fraud

Photo: SAPS / Facebook The Hawks in Limpopo have arrested two former South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) officials and nine accomplices aged between 38 and 61 for alleged fraud. It was during a two-day sting operation in Tzaneen on 13 and 14 September, when this happened. Members of the Limpopo Hawks' Serious Corruption Investigation offices joint forces with SASSA officials in conducting the operation. The Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Matimba Maluleke said the two former SASSA officials were administration clerks, and allegedly urged members of the public to apply for disability grants even though they were not disabled in 2018. “After their applications were successfully processed, the first few payments to unlawful beneficiaries were given to the former officials as gratification.
