Youth empowerment and employment through development programme

Zandspruit Youth Development Forum [ZYDF], is an organisation based in the North of Johannesburg, a disadvantaged informal settlement, which is well-known for its high crime and violence.

The organization was established in 2013, with the aim of support to youth as they as are looking for employment, university and learnerships applications and offer career guidance exhibitions to matriculants in order to improve their chances of employment.


Siyabonga Jali Banda is the, Coordinator of the organisation, said they have programs that are provided to the unemployed youth to fill in forms, which will bring them a step closer to employment.

The programs provide them with entrepreneurial skills, job placement, learnerships opportunities, interview preparations, CV revamps and higher institution applications. 

"We have helped over 500 local dwellers to get employed since the establishment of the organization in 2013. Our goal is to make a huge change contribution and provide help in our community", said Siyabonga Jali Banda.

Job seeking can be tedious, the organization offer support to the unemployed youth as it very depressing when you are unemployed.

24 year old Diana Matlou, said the organisation has helped her to get accepted at a Clothing and Manufacturing learnership under SETA.

"I am so grateful for the opportunity and help i got from Zandspruit Youth Development Forum, it has really helped and empowered me a lot", said Diana Matlou.

The organisation wants to make a better change in the community of Zandspruit at large and offer assistance to the unemployed youth and empower them.
