At least more than 20 people were burnt to death when a bus collided with a truck in Musina, Limpopo yesterday afternoon.

According to the Arrive Alive the bus collided with a truck at around 17:00 and caught fire.

SABC News reported that the bus was transporting mine workers to Venetia mine when it collided with a truck and caught fire.

The mine workers were employed to work in an underground project at the mine by Murray and Roberts company.

The workers were from the Musina location to the mine to work nightshift when the accident happened.

Murray and Roberts has sent condolences to the families of those killed in the accident. The company says it will provide support to the families and colleagues of the deceased.

Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani has visited the scene of the collision  today, Monday 18 September 2023 at Vhembe District.

MEC Radzilani was joined by the Executive Mayor of Vhembe , Dowelani Nenguda, Mayor of Musina Local Municipality, Cllr Godfrey Mawela and the Senior General Manager at Venetia Mine, Ntokozo Ngema.

The purpose of the visit was to be able to establish that 20 people died on the scene, and two that passed on in the hospital. 

The bus company have been Identified to be belonging to the Hope Diamonds Transport.
