Five family members axed to death in Endendale, Pietermaritzburg

Five people from the same family were found dead in their home, in Endendale, in Pietermaritzburg.

According to the police, the bodies of the deceased were found by a family member on January 16.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said that all the victims sustained head injuries and a blood-stained axe which is believed to have been used for murders was found on the scene.

Netshiunda said: “When the police arrived on the scene, five bodies of an 85-year old woman, her 45-year-old daughter and her three children, 11-year-old twins and another one aged nine years old were found lying on the floor.”

“Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that may assist in the investigation or about the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number 08600 10111,” said Netshiunda.
